Is Eurax suitable for children?

Eurax 10% Cream is suitable for the use of children over 3. Eurax HC Cream is suitable for children over 10 years of age.

Are all itchy skin conditions the same?

No, there is a big difference between dermatitis, allergic reactions, eczema and insect bites & stings. Eurax products can be used to treat many minor to moderate skin conditions. The active ingredient Crotamiton helps relieve itching while the Hydrocortisone in our Eurax HC Cream helps reduce skin inflammation. 

What sizes does Eurax come in?

Eurax 10% Cream is available in two sizes, a handy 30g pack that is useful when travelling or to keep in your handbag or car and a 100g pack that is great for the bathroom cabinet. Eurax HC Cream is available in 15g packs.

Can Eurax be used on broken skin?

No, Eurax should not be used on broken skin or for weeping skin conditions. Please consult your doctor for advice on treating broken or weeping skin conditions.

Is Eurax suitable for internal use?

No, both Eurax 10% Cream and Eurax HC Cream are strictly for external use only and should not be used internally.

Can I use Eurax when pregnant or breastfeeding?

Eurax 10% Cream and Eurax HC Cream are not recommended in pregnancy. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Eurax if you are breastfeeding.

What are the active ingredients in Eurax?

The active ingredient in Eurax 10% Cream is Crotamiton, which helps relieve itching and is suitable for use on children over 3. The active ingredients in Eurax HC Cream are Crotamiton, and Hydrocortisone which helps to relieve skin inflammation.

What should I do if I accidentally get Eurax in my eyes or I swallow it?

In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with water and seek medical attention if you experience blurred vision or visual disturbances. If accidentally swallowed, seek medical advice immediately.

I’ve seen Eurax can be used as a moisturiser? Can I use it for this?

Eurax should be used to soothe and relieve itchy skin, it is not intended for use as a moisturiser.

Is Eurax cruelty-free?

Yes, Eurax is not tested on animals. While T&R do not currently commission animal testing on our finished products, we, of course, cannot guarantee that the former licence holders did not.

Will Eurax help on my eczema/contact dermatitis/hives/general itching?

Eurax 10% Cream can be used on all these conditions, apply 2-3 times daily for relief.

Can Eurax be used for chickenpox?

Eurax 10% Cream can be used on this condition, apply 2-3 times daily for relief. Eurax HC Cream cannot be used to treat chickenpox.

Do you send out samples?

Unfortunately, due to Eurax being a medicine, we are unable to send out samples.

Can Eurax be used in or around the ears?

Eurax Cream & Eurax Hc Cream can be used around the ears, but NOT in the ears as both products are only licensed for external use.

Can Eurax be used on psoriasis?

Eurax HC Cream and Eurax Cream are not licensed for the treatment of psoriasis. However, Eurax Cream can be used on dry cases of psoriasis to help with the short term relief of itching but should not be applied in the presence of exudative wounds, acute eczema, broken skin, or very inflamed skin.

Can Eurax be used on tattoos?

Eurax Cream & Eurax HC Cream is not licensed for use on tattoos.

Can Eurax be used on chillblains?

Eurax HC Cream & Eurax Cream is not licensed for use on chilblains.

Can Eurax be used on pets?

Eurax Cream & Eurax HC Cream are licensed for human use only. Therefore, we cannot recommend use on pets and would advise you to speak to your veterinarian to ask for suitable preparation.

Can Eurax be used on shingles?

Eurax HC Cream & Eurax Cream is not licensed for use in shingles. You should always seek advice from your GP if you think you may have shingles.

Can Eurax be used on the scalp?

Eurax Cream & Eurax Hc cream can be used on the scalp. However, should not be applied in the presence of exudative wounds, acute eczema, broken skin, or very inflamed skin.

Can Eurax be used on scars?

Eurax Cream & Eurax HC cream can be used on the scars. However, should not be applied in the presence of exudative wounds, acute eczema, broken skin, or very inflamed skin.

Can Eurax be used on rosacea?

Eurax Cream & Eurax HC Cream are not licensed for use on rosacea.

Can I still buy Eurax lotion?

Can I use Eurax anywhere on my body?

Eurax Cream is for cutaneous use, but it is for external use only, so it should not be used in or around the eyes, in ears, nose and buccal mucosa. Also, it should not be used in presence of exudative wounds, acute eczema, broken skin, or very inflamed skin. For genital itching, Eurax Cream should be used under medical supervision. 


Eurax HC Cream is for cutaneous use, but it is for external use only, so it should not be used in or around the eyes, in ears, nose and buccal mucosa, anus or genital area. Also, it should not be used in the presence of exudative wounds, broken skin, or very inflamed skin, cold sores, acne or athlete’s foot.

Do I need to wash my hands after applying Eurax?

There are no specific instructions to wash hands after use.

Can Eurax be used on ringworm infection?

Eurax Cream is indicated for the relief of itching and skin irritation caused by, for example, sunburn, dry eczema, itchy dermatitis, allergic rashes, hives, nettle rash, chickenpox, insect bites and stings, heat rashes and personal itching. Also, this product should not be applied on very inflamed skin. Therefore, we cannot recommend the usage of Eurax Cream for the treatment of ringworm infections. 

We advise you to consult your doctor or a local pharmacist who will be able to recommend a product most suitable for your needs. 

Eurax HC Cream is indicated for the treatment of skin conditions caused by substances such as bleaches, soaps and detergents, jeweller etc; insect bite reactions; relief of inflammation and pruritus associated with irritant contact dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis and mild to moderate eczema. Therefore, we cannot recommend the usage of Eurax HC Cream for the treatment of ringworm infections. 

We advise you to consult your doctor or a local pharmacist who will be able to recommend a product most suitable for your needs.

Can I use Eurax on my facial dermatitis?

Eurax Cream is indicated for the relief of itching and skin irritation caused by itchy dermatitis, among other things. Therefore, it can be used on the face for the relief of itching and skin irritation caused by facial dermatitis, but please note that this product should not be used in buccal mucosa and in or around the eyes. 

Eurax HC Cream is indicated for the relief of inflammation and pruritus associated with irritant contact dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis among other things. Therefore, it can be used for the relief of inflammation and pruritus caused by facial irritant contact dermatitis and facial allergic contact dermatitis, but please note that this product should not be used in buccal mucosa or other mucous membranes or in or around the eyes.

Can I used Eurax if I'm having chemotherapy?

No studies have been performed concerning use in chemotherapy. Therefore, we advise you to consult your doctor or a local pharmacist, who is best suited to provide you with medical advice.

What is the recommended amount for application?

Eurax Cream apply as required to the affected area. 

Eurax HC Cream – apply sparingly to the affected area.

Is Eurax safe to use everyday?

When Eurax Cream is used for the treatment of Pruritis: Yes, but for children under three years of age, usage should only be used under medical supervision and it should not be applied more than once a day. If symptoms persist, speak to your doctor or local pharmacist. 

When Eurax Cream is used for the treatment of Scabies in adults/elderly, it should be used once daily, for a total of 3-5 days. 

When Eurax Cream is used for the treatment of Scabies in the paediatric population: For children under three years of age, consult a doctor before use and do not apply more than once a day. 

Eurax HC Cream should be applied over a small area twice a day for a maximum period of 1 week.

Can I use Eurax when my skin is wet when I get out of the shower?

The skin should be well dried before use after showering.

Can I use Eurax if I have high blood pressure?

High blood pressure is not listed as a contraindication for Eurax Cream or Eurax HC Cream. However, no interaction studies have been performed. Therefore, we advise you to consult your doctor or a local pharmacist, who is best suited to provide you with medical advice.

Can I use Eurax if I have sensitive skin?

Eurax Cream should not be applied in the presence of exudative wounds, acute eczema, broken skin, or very inflamed skin. In the presence of eczematous scabies, eczema should be treated before scabies. 

Also, Eurax HC Cream should not be applied in the presence of exudative wounds, broken skin, or very inflamed skin. We advise you to consult with your healthcare professional.

Can Eurax be used on all skin types?

Eurax Cream contraindications are acute exudative dermatoses and hypersensitivity to the active substance (crotamiton) or to any of the excipients (Methyl hydroxybenzoate, Phenylethyl alcohol, Glycerol, Triethanolamine, Sodium lauryl sulphate, Ethylene glycol monostearate, Stearyl alcohol, Strong ammonia solution 25%, Stearic acid, Hard paraffin, White beeswax, Perfume Givaudan No 45, Purified water). Also, Eurax Cream should not be applied in the presence of exudative wounds, acute eczema, broken skin, or very inflamed skin.

In the presence of eczematous scabies, eczema should be treated before scabies. Eurax HC Cream contraindications are hypersensitivity to the active substances (hydrocortisone and crotamiton) or to any of the excipients (Stearyl Alcohol, White soft paraffin, polyoxyl 40 stearates, Propyl hydroxybenzoate, Propylene glycol, Methyl hydroxybenzoate, Perfume Givaudan No. 45, Sulphuric acid, Purified water); bacterial, viral or fungal infections of the skin; acute exudative dermatoses; application to ulcerated areas. Also, Eurax HC Cream should not be applied in the presence of exudative wounds, broken skin, or very inflamed skin.

Does Eurax sting?

All creams can sting slightly on application.

Does Eurax have an expiration date?

Yes, Eurax Cream and Eurax HC Cream the shelf life for these products is 30 months after the manufacturing date.

Is Eurax a steroid cream?

Eurax Cream is not a steroid cream. Eurax HC Cream contains hydrocortisone which is a corticosteroid.

How long does it take for Eurax to work?

Usually within 15-30minutes.

Is Eurax an antihistamine?

No.
